What custom kitchen cabinets in Louisville include

Custom kitchen cabinets are built to the measurements of your room instead of assembled from a size chart. Every base and wall unit, the island, the pantry and the trim that closes it all off to the wall. Stock runs in three-inch steps, so a wall ends in a filler strip, and every filler strip is storage you paid for the space of and cannot use.

Door style, wood species, drawer boxes and finish are all chosen rather than picked from three options.

Measured, not estimated

We measure the walls themselves at several heights, because plaster is rarely plumb and the plan is rarely what got built.

Built to the inch

Cabinets are made to your wall dimensions, so the run finishes at the wall instead of at a filler strip.

How the work runs

Each stage is signed off before the next one starts.

01

Measure

We measure the room itself rather than working from the plan, because walls are rarely square and the plan is rarely what got built. Every opening gets checked.

02

Design and quote

You get a layout and a written estimate broken down by stage, so you can see what the doors cost against the boxes against the install. Free, nothing to sign.

03

Build

Cabinetry is built to the measurements we took, in the wood, door style and finish you picked. Lead time depends on the scope and we tell you before you commit.

04

Install

Scribed to the walls, levelled, and fixed properly. Hardware adjusted so every door and drawer sits straight before we leave.

Who built-to-fit cabinetry is for

This is for homeowners who already have a stock or semi-custom quote and are working out whether the jump is worth it. It usually is when the room fights you: walls out of square, a chimney breast, a low soffit, an opening nothing standard covers. Older Louisville housing does all four.

If your layout works and you just want it to look newer, you are probably not this buyer, and we will say so.

How the process works, and how long it takes

We measure the walls themselves at several heights before drawing anything, then quote by stage so you can see the doors against the boxes against the install. Build starts once you sign off.

Full custom runs 8 to 16 weeks from sign-off to install. Semi-custom is 4 to 8. That gap is the single most common surprise, and it is worth knowing before you tear a kitchen out.

What custom kitchen cabinets cost in Louisville

Nationally, full custom runs about $500 to $1,200 per linear foot installed, against $150 to $650 for semi-custom, which puts a standard kitchen between $12,000 and $20,000 for cabinets alone.

Size moves that number less than you would think. Wood, door style and finish move it most. A painted finish costs more than a stain on the same box, and two kitchens with the same footprint can differ by eight thousand on spec alone.

The same shop work covers custom bathroom vanities in Louisville, built-ins & bookcases in Louisville and custom closets in Louisville, plus custom pantry cabinets and kitchen island cabinetry.

When refacing is the better answer

If your boxes are sound and the layout works, custom is the expensive answer to a cheap problem. Refacing gets most of the visual change for a fraction of the spend, and we would rather tell you that on the first visit.

We cover the metro including cabinets in Jeffersontown and cabinets in Lyndon.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between custom, semi-custom and stock cabinets?

Stock comes in fixed three-inch increments off a shelf. Semi-custom is stock sizes with more choice of door, finish and a few modifications. Custom is built to your wall measurements in whatever spec you pick, which is why it costs three to five times stock and takes longer.

How much do custom kitchen cabinets cost?

Nationally about $500 to $1,200 per linear foot installed, which puts a standard kitchen between $12,000 and $20,000 for the cabinets alone. Semi-custom runs $150 to $650 per linear foot. Your number depends far more on wood, door style and finish than on the size of the room.

How long does a custom kitchen take?

Eight to sixteen weeks from sign-off to install for full custom, four to eight for semi-custom. That is the part people are least prepared for, so we say it before you commit rather than after you have torn the old kitchen out.

Is custom worth it if my boxes are still sound?

Often not. If the layout works and the carcasses are solid, refacing or refinishing gets you most of the visual change for a fraction of the cost. We would rather point that out on the first visit than quote you a full replacement you did not need.

Do you handle the countertops too?

Countertops are a separate trade with their own templating and fabrication, so they are quoted separately. We coordinate the timing so the counter is templated once the cabinets are set and level.

What happens if my walls are not square?

They usually are not, particularly in older Louisville housing. Cabinets get scribed to the wall so the run finishes tight instead of leaving a tapered gap, which is the main thing built-to-fit buys you over stock.
