About Louisville Custom Cabinets

Louisville Custom Cabinets builds cabinetry to the measurements of the room instead of the nearest stock size. This page is how we work rather than a company history, because how a cabinet job is run is the part that decides whether you like the result.

What custom cabinetry actually means

Stock cabinets come in three-inch increments. Semi-custom is the same boxes with more choice of door and finish. Custom means the carcass is built to the dimension your wall actually is, which is why a 142-inch wall gets 142 inches of storage instead of 138 inches and two filler strips.

That difference matters most in older Louisville housing, where walls are rarely plumb and openings are rarely standard. It matters least in a square room built after 1990, and we will say so when that is the case.

How a job runs

We measure the room ourselves before quoting, at several heights, because the plan is rarely what got built. You get a written estimate broken down by stage, so you can see the doors against the boxes against the install rather than one number at the bottom.

Build starts after sign-off. Full custom runs eight to sixteen weeks; semi-custom is four to eight. We tell you that before you commit, not after the old kitchen is out. Install is scribed, levelled and adjusted so every door sits straight before we leave.

When we tell you not to buy custom

If the carcasses are sound and the layout works, replacing them is the expensive answer to a cheap problem. Cabinet refacing in Louisville changes doors, drawer fronts and box veneer for roughly half the cost of replacement. Cabinet refinishing in Louisville keeps the doors and strips them back where the wood is worth saving.

Sometimes the honest answer is smaller still: pull-out shelves in Louisville fix a deep base cabinet you cannot reach into, and cabinet repair in Louisville fixes a door that will not sit straight. We would rather quote the small job than lose the trust on the big one.

Where we work

We stay inside about 20 miles of Louisville, which keeps measuring, templating and installing on the schedule we quoted. That covers St. Matthews, the Highlands, Prospect and the rest of the Louisville area.

Every quote starts with a measurement, and the estimate is free either way.
